ShareTheMeal - Fight Hunger (World Food Programme Initiative)

Support the Children

ShareTheMeal is an initiative of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) - the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger. Each year, WFP reaches more than 86 million people with food assistance in around 83 countries. WFP is 100% voluntarily funded, so every donation counts.  WFP’s administrative costs are among the lowest in the non-profit sector  – with 90% of donations going directly to WFP operations that are  building a world with zero hunger.

Donations from the ShareTheMeal app support various WFP operations ranging from resilience building and school feeding programmes to providing food assistance in emergencies. Since launching the app in 2015, ShareTheMeal have helped provide aid to some of the largest food crises in the world including Yemen, Syria, Nepal, India, Lebanon and Nigeria.

Freerice

Donate Rice

Freerice is an ad-supported, free-to-play website and mobile application that allows players to donate rice to families in need by playing a multiple-choice quiz game. For every question the user answers correctly, 5 grains of rice are donated via the United Nation's World Food Programme.

How does Freerice work?

As you play Freerice and answer questions right, advertisements appear on your screen. When you see one of these advertisements, you trigger a financial payment to the World Food Programme (WFP) to support its work saving and changing lives around the world.

In the game, these payments are represented via grains of rice. The amount of money generated when you see an advertisement can vary, but is roughly equivalent to what the World Food Programme spends to purchase 10 5 grains of rice.

Ocean Cleanup

You Can Start Right Now

Every year, millions of tons of plastic enter the oceans, of which the majority spills out from rivers. A portion of this plastic travels to ocean garbage patches, where it gets caught in a vortex of circulating currents alongside plastic from other sources (e.g. offshore fishing activities). If no action is taken, plastic will increasingly impact our ecosystems, health, and economies.

The Ocean Cleanup (https://theoceancleanup.com) is a non-profit organization developing and scaling technologies to rid the oceans of plastic.

It is our job to protect our environment for the generations to come.

Save our Planet

The rainforest is a fascinating biome. Due to destruction of rainforests (deforestation), the population of trees has had a dramatic decrease.

Cutting trees is detrimental and releases carbon dioxide. The animals that inhabit this biome will lose their homes and habitat, and possibly die without them. Deforestation can be caused by poaching, over population, rainforest farming and forest fires. These major threats can heat up the atmosphere. Some solutions are sustainable logging and Government moratoriums on road building and large infrastructure projects in the rainforest.
